Northern
France may not be as popular as the southern
costal regions of Nice and the Riviera, but
it has a lot to offer tourists. Historically
important cities like Paris are very popular
as they are modern business hubs as well. Paris
also has two airports; Charles De Gaulle and
Orly. Charles De Gaulle is one of the most famous
airports in the world and has both domestic
and international flights. It also features
a railway terminal at the airport successfully
integrating both modes of transport at the same
location. The airport has 7 terminals with some
of them being especially reserved for Air France
flights. Air France dominates the domestic airline
market in France, but with the advent of private
and foreign airlines into the country, there
is now more choice at competitive rates.
Lille, the capital of northern France, situated
along its border with Belgium, has an international
airport with a limited number of flights. Lyon,
Rouen, Caen, Nancy, Rennes and Angers are some
of the other airports in the region. Airports
in the region are maintained by France’s
aviation ministry and have high standards of
quality and safety. Excellent facilities like
restaurants and cafes, duty free shops, business
centers and communication are available at all
airports. Although most travel within the country
is done my road or rail, some regions are not
easily accessible from the capital by any other
mean than air.
